A Community That Breathes Wellness--Our Neighborhood, Our Sanctuary of Health....
By Dr. Varsha Thakur
In today’s world, where stress silently takes a toll on our minds and bodies, the true wealth of a community lies not in concrete towers but in how deeply it breathes together, heals together, and uplifts together.
This International Yoga Day, Purva Fountain Square did not just mark a calendar event — we witnessed a living, breathing example of conscious community living.
A Soulful Start with Stories and Stillness
The morning of 22nd June unfolded with soft mats laid across the Amphitheater lawns, and hearts wide open to receive something deeper than movement — stillness.
Guiding us was the ever-humble and spiritually attuned Mr. Sudhakant Mishra ji, who has been a pillar of wellness in our community since 2017.
With his grounded voice and peaceful demeanor, he invited us not only to stretch our bodies but to stretch our gratitude — to honor each breath, each moment. Through ancient stories of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, he reminded us that yoga is not just an exercise, but a sacred art of tuning inwards.
His easy-to-follow instructions made it possible for everyone — from children to senior citizens — to participate meaningfully and joyfully.
Salutations to Sun, Soil, and Spirit
As the sun rose gently, the session naturally transitioned into Surya Namaskar, expressing gratitude to Lord Surya, the source of life and energy. With folded hands and bowed heads, participants offered pranam to Bhoomi Mata — a humble moment of unity with the Earth beneath us.
These symbolic gestures were more than routine; they were rituals of respect. In those moments, breath became prayer.
Community That Moves Together
One of the most touching sights was the enthusiastic involvement of children, who embraced yoga with playful discipline and innocent joy. Even more inspiring were our senior citizens, who moved with surprising flexibility, grace, and determination, often outpacing the younger participants with their focused presence.
This intergenerational harmony — of youth, elders, and everyone in between — is what makes our society truly vibrant.
Gratitude for the Green Souls
Behind this successful and scenic event stood our proactive association members and selfless volunteers. Their careful planning, coordination, and creative touches ensured that every element of the morning felt seamless and sacred.
Special gratitude was extended to the garden team and maintenance workers, whose ongoing efforts keep our landscape not just green but spiritually nurturing. Their work makes such events not just beautiful, but breathable.
A Mindful Closure
The session concluded with a 30-minute guided meditation by Anusha, one of our very own residents. Her calming voice and gentle guidance helped everyone settle into deep relaxation — an experience of inner stillness amid outer harmony.
As eyes closed and minds stilled, you could feel a silent prayer rising — for peace, for health, for oneness.
Breathing Into the Future
This Yoga Day celebration wasn’t just about wellness. It was a gentle reminder that wellness begins where community awakens. At Purva Fountain Square, we are proud to say that we are not just residents — we are guardians of breath, carriers of care, and co-creators of conscious living.
Let us keep showing up — for ourselves, for each other, and for the Earth we walk on.
