We live in a world that constantly measures people against one another. One student may be academically brilliant, another artistically exceptional. One may be an outgoing extrovert who effortlessly adapts to every social situation, while another may be a quiet introvert whose imagination creates entire worlds of creativity. One may excel on the football field, while another possesses remarkable coding skills. Yet society often chooses which talents deserve admiration and which are considered "not good enough."
For students, this comparison begins early and rarely stops. In schools and during university entrance preparations, they are constantly told to learn from someone else, work harder, and become more like another person. Instead of being encouraged to discover their own strengths, they are often made to feel inadequate for not fitting a predefined model of success.
As a result, authenticity and originality are frequently overlooked if they do not align with societal expectations. Many young people grow up under the constant pressure of proving themselves. Their actions are driven not by self-development or personal fulfillment, but by the desire to make others proud and avoid criticism.
If society had forced everyone into the same mold, would we have had the athletes, artists, actors, musicians, innovators, and leaders we admire today? The people who inspire us are often those who dared to pursue their passions despite being told to follow a different path. Their success lies not in conformity, but in embracing who they truly are.
Every individual possesses a unique light within them. We may not always understand another person's strengths, but we must learn to respect them. And if we cannot help someone discover their potential, we should at least ensure that we never become the reason their light grows dim. After all, people are not meant to be copies of one another—they are meant to be different, and that difference is their greatest strength.
